My main photography trip for 2013 was to Hungary with Natures Images. The Hortobagy is a region rich with all kinds of wildlife – and a special place for bird photographers. I particularly wanted to photograph Red-Footed Falcons and Hawfinch, and I wasn’t disappointed.

It was full-on photography from the start. Twelve hour days in the hides and sometimes in incredible heat but, wow, what an experience. So many species of birds and so many opportunities that I really must go back again. I’ve only scratched the surface of image possibilities and I have a few shots in mind that I want to try. Better start saving now!

This image of Red-Footed Falcons mating has been very successful in national and international photographic salons.
